NEW AGED CARE ACT - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
From 1 November 2025, the new Aged Care Act is in place. It’s a big step forward for quality care and worker protections. To help you understand what’s changing and what it means for your day-to-day work, the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has created practical resources just for Aged Care workers.
You can browse the full list of resources on the Department’s website, but here are five essentials we recommend starting with:
-
A clear, plain-English summary explaining key changes and how they affect your role.
Aged Care Act 2024 plain-language fact sheet -
A practical guide that explains your rights, responsibilities, and what’s new under the Act.
Working in Aged Care: A Guide for Workers -
Read about the most important changes under the new Act and watch a short video explaining what you need to know if you work in aged care. The ACQSC also provides detailed information for workers here.
-
A handy A3 visual to display in your workplace, keeping rights top-of-mind for you and your residents.
